Quito, Ecuador, Monday, October 14, 2019 [daytime]
With the altitude--Quito is 9,350 (2,850) feet in the air--the morning dawned clear, crisp and cool. We'd recommend packing a sweatshirt for the city bus tour, which will leave at 9 in the morning. You have plenty of time to grab breakfast and a trip to the gym before then.
Up and at 'em, Fandom! Ecuador awaits!

Re: Middle of the World City
Re: Middle of the World City
Nina took a deep breath.
“What if, like, when I’m off I contact you every three days?????????????????” she offered. “And, if, I know ahead of time if I can’t make contact on time, I’ll let you know???????????????? In return, though, if I don’t make a contact don’t freak out right away———-wait a day, sometimes things come up………………………”
She hesitated. “Would...... would that be better?????????????”
Re: Middle of the World City
He looked like he might have wanted to say more there, but...he didn't. He stopped. He wanted to go on, but he knew it would just lead them around in circles, and that wouldn't do them any good. He already knew she'd object to him saying that then, at least, they could know where to start looking.
Re: Middle of the World City
“But————,” Nina cut herself off before that objection got too far. Oh, but she hated it! “How about what world I’m going to?????????????????”
She didn’t like that either, but she was trying to compromise.

Re: Middle of the World City
Re: Middle of the World City
He didn't know what else to add there, so he just shifted gears slightly. "...and stop acting so freaking surprised all the time that I actually care about you! It's like you don't even remember how mad I was at you for dying that one time, and that hadn't even happened yet!"
He meant it as sort of a joke, an attempt to lighten the mood, but it was just too sincere for it to have really worked that way.
Re: Middle of the World City
And he didn't even know it yet.
"I know you care," she said, finally, after wrestling with herself over it. "But, like, I still keep thinking that……………… you're going to stop…………….."
She couldn't help it.
Re: Middle of the World City
"...which I'm not going to!" he added in quickly. "Ever! Whether you like it or not, you're stuck with me."
Emotionally and legally now, too!
Re: Middle of the World City
"You're super stuck with me too," she said, wondering if she should try telling him that—but, no, Nina didn't think he'd believe it, not right now, and that would hurt if he didn't. "Super, super, super stuck with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The paperwork didn't lie!
Re: Middle of the World City
Or that, apparently, he was only super, super, super stuck with her when it was convenient for her.
He wanted to, but then again, he also didn't, because he just wanted to stop arguing over it and the important thing was that she was safe and...some understanding had been reached. So all he said was, "Good," and went to pull her into another big, squeezing, protective sort of hug again.
Re: Middle of the World City
But Nina snuggled into that hug, letting herself, for the moment, believe that she could trust that protection.
"Did you want to get dinner with me later
oh so handwavily?????????????" she asked. "Because, like, Wayne says today's a holiday for families so I……………….."So she'd gone looking for him.
Re: Middle of the World City
"Yeah, I could go for some food," he decided. "Were you in the mood for anything in partiular? I think I heard something about guinea pigs on a stick around here..."
He was joking.
There was no way he was eating that, he had to work with guinea pigs! How would he ever look those cute little jerks in the eyes ever again??
Re: Middle of the World City
Nina squawked in horror.
"Guinea pigs??!?!??!?!???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Re: Middle of the World City
Re: Middle of the World City
Nope. Nope. Nina was not going to do that.
Re: Middle of the World City
Which, sure, he vowed he'd never show her because she decided to go running off without a trace, but that just made it seem like even more of an effective peace offering.
Re: Middle of the World City
"I love that idea," Nina said because, really, wandering through streets of an unknown city gave her life. "Let's do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And ohmygosh you were not really a girl last week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't even....................."
Re: Middle of the World City
Re: Middle of the World City
"It's too bad I missed you being a girl but like, I'm glad I missed being a boy," Nina said honestly, making a face at the very thought. "I'd never get married then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Nina's priorities were, uh.
...
Yeah.
Re: Middle of the World City
"What does that have anything to do with any of it? Obviously, you would have changed back, and even then..."
Why was he getting the distinct feeling this was just the beginning of his boggling, if Nina could bring herself to even discuss such a sordid topic as apparently this was.
Re: Middle of the World City
"Like, Prompto, oh my gooooooooooosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
She flailed for words to try to explain something that just made sense to her.
"I mean, like, I'd have failed as a wife," she said, eyes big. "I'd have seen another guy naked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
It would be terrible.
Re: Middle of the World City
"I think," he finally decided, "there can be exceptions if the naked guy is yourself."
Re: Middle of the World City
She shuddered.
"I'm so glad I missed that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Re: Middle of the World City
"Maybe it is for the best, then," he concluded. "Still. It would have kind of been fun to go cute girl-clothes shopping and have you, like, do my hair or something. It was long, Nina, and I did not have a clue what to do with it."
