Guilin, Friday Morning

If you were getting tired of historical monuments and city life, Guilin is for you: it's a city surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Today is for hiking, and riverboat cruising. Well, after we stuff ourselves with dim sum down in the hotel breakfast buffet.

"Some news anchor over at Fox just died of a shock and horror." And probably a massive heart attack, but whatever.

"I'll somehow manage to sleep through the night," Steve said, laughing.

"You monster," Tony said, leaning against Steve's side.

Steve grinned. "Think the dumplings are ready? How many do you think exploded in the steamer?"

Tony glanced over at where their teacher was doing his very best to pretend they didn't even exist before reaching over to lift the top of the steamer. "...a few fallen soldiers in there, but they look good."

Well. Good-ish.

"Much better than the noodles!"

Not a high bar to clear, Steve.

They were doing their best!

"I think this is a keeper recipe."

"We should try it at home," Steve said optimistically. "We'll be great at it."

They would be great! Maybe.

"I'd say we could freeze extras, but you're you."

"No such things as leftovers," Steve agreed cheerfully.

"Maybe if we ordered an entire menu?" Tony asked.

Even then, it was possible Steve would finish the meal.

"I ate it all in Paris," Steve said, blushing slightly. "But I wasn't hungry for hours after."

"Then I guess we'll just have to do that more often," he replied slyly.

Steve blushed. "It was fun."

"Maybe a little less wine," he suggested smiling even more.

"Definitely," Steve said, laughing sheepishly.

"Maybe I should introduce you to good whiskey next." THAT WOULD BE WORSE THAN WINE, TONY.

"That would be fun," Steve said.

"Not with dumplings, though," Tony said as the basket was taken off of the steamer and placed out for them to sample. "Xièxiè."

"Now, that's for, what, barbecue or something?" Steve guessed.

Steve had no idea.

"Or going to a steak house where they make you wear a suit jacket." Or terrible nightclubs that gave Tony a headache these days.

"You just want me in a suit," Steve said.

"You look so good in suits!" Tony insisted, handing Steve a set of chopsticks. "Even better mussed in one."

"Biased," Steve said, sounding impossibly fond.

Sometimes Steve honestly forgot what he looked like now.

"Lucky to see it," Tony countered.
